Marian Hoogenboom CARE House

An outreach to cancer patients and their families

Cancer CARE House AccommodationsAs a not-for-profit organization, the CARE House is an available resource for patients and their caregivers who are seeking cancer treatment at Goshen Center for Cancer Care and rely on the comforts and close proximity of overnight accommodations for treatment purposes. Located within walking distance of the Center for Cancer Care, this ‘home away from home’ offers beautiful outdoor space as well as the indoor conveniences of home. There are four suites, each with a private bathroom, and a few shared common areas – living room, dining room and kitchen.

Guests can use the kitchen to prepare their own meals. A washer and dryer are also available in the house to do laundry. The house is not staffed. Patients are encouraged to bring a caregiver with them. Any exceptions should be requested when the reservation is made.

Staying at CARE House is free. Because the facility relies completely on donations, if you can make a donation, $30 a night is suggested. Just request a receipt if you need one for tax purposes.

CARE House is a non-smoking facility.

The CARE Foundation Board hopes that patients find the CARE House private and comforting during their stay. They are committed to helping meet the needs of cancer patients and supporting health care services.

To make a reservation or find out more, call Libby Stout at (574) 364-2922, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Each guest will need to complete a tour and registration before staying at CARE House.

The CARE House is named in memory of Marian Hoogenboom, a dedicated volunteer and friend of the hospital. After Mrs. Hoogenboom’s struggle with cancer, her family contributed to the building of the CARE House.
