October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Don’t skip your screening. We can help!

There are many reasons for putting off an annual screening mammogram, but Goshen Retreat Women’s Health Center (the Goshen Retreat) does not want financial difficulty to be one of them. The HeartStrings Sisters program provides financial assistance for screening mammograms for income-eligible, medically underserved women in our community.

“We have been fortunate to be a part of such a compassionate and charitable community. It is through fundraising and private donors that the Retreat is able to offer our HeartStrings Sisters program. This program ensures most women will have their screening mammograms covered at no out-of-pocket cost,” says Dr. Laura Morris, Director of the Goshen Retreat and Breast Surgical Oncologist. “We encourage all women who are concerned about the cost of a mammogram to contact us and let us help you assess if you qualify for financial assistance. We truly care about you and your health.”

Make mammograms part of your annual routine

The earlier breast cancer is found, the easier it can be to treat. The American Cancer Society recommends a screening mammogram annually for women age 45 and older who are not symptomatic. Women with a family history of breast cancer or other concerns should talk with their healthcare provider. These women may need to start screenings earlier or have more frequent tests.

Superior breast care & treatment

One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. That is why early detection and risk assessment are so critical. The Goshen Retreat is dedicated to providing the most comprehensive breast screening, care and treatment program in the region.

If you are due for a screening mammogram, please call (574) 364-4600.
