Goshen Health Foundation accepting grant applications

Improving the health and wellness of our community – together, we can do even more
GOSHEN, Ind. -- Goshen, Elkhart and surrounding area non-profit organizations are encouraged to apply for grants from the Goshen Health Community Benefit fund. The fund is one example of how Goshen Health re-invests money into the communities we serve. 2017 marks the 19th anniversary of the health system’s commitment.

Any nonprofit organization with a mission consistent with that of Goshen Health and that works toward meeting the health needs of the community are encouraged to apply. The Community Benefit Fund Committee of the Goshen Health Board of Directors will evaluate all applications. Grant and matching fund recipients will be notified through mail by March 2017.

Since its inception in 1998, the Charitable Giving Committee of the Board of Directors has awarded more than $4.8 million in grants to community organizations and projects that meet the health needs of our community.  Last year, the Charitable Giving Committee awarded $361,150 to 39 different organizations in Goshen and surrounding communities. Every year the Board of Directors of Goshen Health designates a percentage of the previous year’s operational budget for the hospital’s Community Benefit Fund, through which grants are awarded each spring.

Local nonprofit organizations focused on meeting the health needs of our communities can now apply for a 2017 grant.

Priority will be given to programs that address:

  • Access to health services
  • Access to mental health services
  • Obesity
  • Smoking cessation
  • Treatment of chronic conditions – particularly diabetes, hypertension and cancer risks
  • Cancer research
