GOSHEN, Ind. – The Goshen Health Foundation accepted a check for $10,000 to benefit the Naturopathic Wellness Fund of the Goshen Center for Cancer Care. The money was raised through the annual Hoops for Hope girls’ basketball game, where Northridge Lady Raiders hosted Elkhart Memorial. This annual event is organized by the Northridge High School athletic department, staff and students. The gift will be used to help local patients with cancer receive the most comprehensive treatment services, including an integrative care team and natural therapies that work in conjunction with traditional cancer treatment.

“The 2016 – 2017 annual Hoops for Hope fundraiser was a complete success! The Lady Raiders are proud to announce that a donation of $10,000 will be given to the Goshen Center for Cancer Care,” said John Stearns, Northridge High School math teacher and former Northridge girls’ basketball coach. “We would like to thank the Northridge High School Athletic Department, Springer Designs and the Goshen Center for Cancer Care in helping to reach our goal. A special thank you to our sponsors: Premier Driving Institute, Spring View Excavating, Hoosier House Furnishings and to all who have donated for making this possible.”

“This sizeable donation has a very positive impact on our patients,” said Dr. Emily Moore, manager of integrative care, Goshen Center for Cancer Care. “The Naturopathic Wellness Fund provides patients with services to improve quality of life during cancer treatments. These services range from vitamins and supplements, acupuncture treatments, or rehabilitative exercise regimens. We are so very grateful to Northridge High School and the Hoops for Hope program.”

Students, staff and community members purchased t-shirts and sunglasses, and all admissions proceeds were donated towards the event. More than 800 people were estimated to have attended the game January 20, 2017 at Northridge High School.
