Irina Sparks, Radiation Oncologist, joined Goshen Center for Cancer Care
Irina Sparks, MD, recently joined the team of oncologists at Goshen Center for Cancer Care after completing her radiation oncology residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI. She treats a wide range of cancers and some benign tumors, and has a special interest in advanced and highly targeted radiation techniques such as High Dose Rate Brachytherapy (DHR), Stereotactic Body Radiation (SBRT) and Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS). Dr. Sparks has a background in natural medicine that guides her approach to care. She focuses on treating the whole person, not only the disease. She also believes in providing patients with the same compassion and care as she would a family member.
“My previous experience as a naturopathic doctor helps me consider all possibilities when treating cancer patients. I appreciate that Goshen Center for Cancer Care places such an emphasis on integrative therapies in combination with traditional treatments. I am pleased to be joining the radiation oncology department to help further these efforts,” said Dr. Sparks.
Dr. Sparks holds a doctorate degree in naturopathic medicine from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon. She also completed a two-year naturopathic residency at Goshen Center for Cancer Care prior to pursuing a carrier in radiation oncology. Outside of the workplace, Dr. Sparks enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and training in martial arts with her son. She is fluent in Russian.
