Holidays and grief: a support group to help

Goshen Home Care & Hospice is offering three grief support group meetings this holiday season. Because losses can feel more intense during holidays, sharing our emotions with others who have had similar experiences can provide support and encouragement, according to Janet Quatman, LSW, CHP-SW, Social Worker and Bereavement Coordinator. The meetings are free and open to the public. Participants are encouraged to call (574) 364‐2700 to RSVP by November 13.

Goshen Health offers quick and simple health screenings!

Schedule an appointment during Goshen Health’s next Wellness Wednesday event on November 14 for quick and simple screenings to check your risks for certain health conditions and provide opportunities for improvements. This screening event will be held on the second floor of Community Wellness, in the High Park building at 1721 South Main Street, next to Goshen Hospital.

Diabetes, Heart Disease and You

To help people with diabetes and their families know what they can do to make a difference, Goshen Hospital is offering a FREE class focused on eating well and managing blood pressure. Plan now to attend Diabetes, Heart Disease and You on Monday, November 12 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the Birch/Walnut conference room at Goshen Hospital.

All 4 Alice Bowling Benefit to raise breast cancer awareness

In 2013, Chris and Kristin Dutton began the All 4 Alice Bowling Benefit in remembrance of their mother, Alice Dutton, who passed from complications of breast cancer. For six years now, they have been inviting community members to bowl with them in hopes of raising awareness and the benefits of early detection. This year, the event will be held on Sunday, November 11 at Country Club Lanes, 1910 Cassopolis Street in Elkhart. Bowling shifts start at 1:00 and 3:30 p.m.

Wakarusa family medicine doctor joins Goshen Physicians Osteopathic Family Clinic

Tricia Foster, DO, MRO, CME, has joined Goshen Physicians Osteopathic Family Clinic in Nappanee. She brings more than 15 years of experience in family medicine and occupational health to the clinic. Her holistic approach centers on preventive care and treatment of chronic illnesses and injuries for the entire family.

Goshen Hospice honors veterans during pinning ceremonies

George Myers tells everyone who visits about his recent pinning ceremony. Myers served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Pinning ceremonies are part of Goshen Hospice’s We Honor Veterans (WHV) program. The program increases access to compassionate, high quality hospice care for veterans who are facing serious and life-limiting illnesses.

Support Group for People with Heart Failure

Goshen Health’s next Heart Failure Support Group meets Thursday, November 8 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Greencroft Community Center in Goshen. Neil Jain, Clinical Pharmacist at Goshen Hospital, will present information about medications used in heart failure, as well as other commonly used medications in the senior population. In addition, he will be available to answer participants’ questions about their medications. Attendees are encouraged to bring a list of their current medications to the meeting. The support group is free, and there is no need to register.

Goshen Physicians Family Medicine Middlebury recently welcomed board certified Family Nurse Practitioner Deborah Nethercutt, MSN, RN, NP-C, CAPA, to the medical practice. She provides care for patients across their lifespan, from newborns to the elderly.
