Goshen Hospital Echocardiology Department Earns Reaccreditation

Echocardiography is an ultrasound guided cardiac diagnostic procedure. It is used to visualize and assess different structures and functions of the heart. It can detect in real time signs and severity of heart disease and other heart problems. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, followed closely by stroke as the fourth highest cause of death. That’s why accurate heart screenings are so important.

One in Eight – Local schools ‘Volley for a Cure’

Bethany High School hosted a volleyball match against Goshen High School on Tuesday, October 2. Both teams’ preparation for the event included a few different drills than the normal groundwork laid in anticipation for an opponent. Bethany held bake sales and sold T-shirts, while all game admission proceeds were donated for one cause – to Volley for a Cure. Monetary efforts were given to Goshen Health Foundation in the fight against breast cancer.

Diabetic foot care tips offered at Goshen Health

Learn tips to overcome challenges of foot care for adults with diabetes at Goshen Health’s Frightening Feet seminar on Monday, October 15, 2018 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. The seminar will be held at the Goshen Heart & Vascular Center located at 1855 South Main Street in Goshen, in the wellness classroom on the second floor.

Support Group for People with Heart Failure

Goshen Health’s next Heart Failure Support Group meets Thursday, October 11 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Greencroft Community Center in Goshen. Reverend Donald Johnson, Spiritual Care Coordinator at Goshen Health, will speak on coping with chronic illness. The support group is free, and there is no need to register.

Ashley Scott, MD, joins Goshen Physicians OB/GYN

Ashley Scott, MD, recently joined the team of obstetricians and gynecologists at Goshen Physicians OB/GYN. She provides specialized care for women of all ages. Services she provides include preventive screenings and assessments and well woman care. She is also trained in family planning and routine pregnancy care.

Irina Sparks, Radiation Oncologist, joined Goshen Center for Cancer Care

Irina Sparks, MD, recently joined the team of oncologists at Goshen Center for Cancer Care after completing her radiation oncology residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI. She treats a wide range of cancers and some benign tumors, and has a special interest in advanced and highly targeted radiation techniques such as High Dose Rate Brachytherapy (DHR), Stereotactic Body Radiation (SBRT) and Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS).

New Medical Director named at Goshen Center for Cancer Care

Leonard Henry, MD, MBA, FACS, has been appointed Medical Director for Goshen Center for Cancer Care. His responsibilities include developing clinical programs and services and recruiting providers. Dr. Henry will continue his clinical practice in surgical oncology.

Goshen Hospice seeks volunteers to spend time with patients

Goshen Hospice is hosting a hospice volunteer training series during the month of October. The training includes a special emphasis on working with veteran patients, in addition to hospice philosophy, communication skills, emotional, spiritual and physical aspects of dying, family dynamics and grief.
