The facts about breast cancer
All women are at risk for breast cancer. However, family and personal history of breast cancer, genetics, age, race and other factors can further increase your risk – no matter how old you are. Genetic abnormalities inherited from either your mother’s or father’s side of the family can increase your risk as high as 80 percent. Plus, the more risk factors you have, the greater your chances are of getting breast cancer. That’s why it’s never too early to learn if you’re a high-risk candidate.
Our mission is to detect breast cancer in women as early as possible. Research has shown that proactive breast cancer management can reduce your risk by up to 90 percent.
How our High Risk Breast Cancer Program works
To determine if you’re at high risk for breast cancer, we thoroughly examine your medical history, family and personal history of breast cancer and current lifestyle choices. Genetic testing is available if necessary. If you are found to be high risk, we develop a personalized action plan to manage that risk. This plan may include increased surveillance (mammograms, MRIs and checkups), dietary and lifestyle changes, naturopathic medicine and other types of individualized support.
