GOSHEN, Ind. – For the third year in a row, the Fairfield volleyball team chose to prioritize breast cancer awareness and fundraising efforts in the month of October. The Lady Falcons held a silent auction, organized a bake sale, sold t-shirts and took donations in support of their “Pink Out” game to “Block Out” breast cancer. Their efforts raised over $5,000 for the HeartStrings Sisters program at Goshen Retreat Women’s Health Center (the Retreat).
“Every day we hear stories about a friend, neighbor, coworker or family member battling this disease,” said Dr. Laura Morris, Breast Surgical Oncologist at the Retreat. “Donating to the HeartStrings Sisters is way to support families in need in Elkhart County.”
The HeartStrings Sisters program offers a unique way to help women with breast cancer. When a woman is first diagnosed, she can speak with a HeartStrings Sister – a breast cancer survivor who understands her needs and emotions. Financial assistance is also provided for screening mammograms for income-eligible, medically underserved women in our community.
