Goshen Hospice seeks volunteers to spend time with patients

September 24, 2018

GOSHEN, Ind. – Goshen Hospice is hosting a hospice volunteer training series during the month of October. The training includes a special emphasis on working with veteran patients, in addition to hospice philosophy, communication skills, emotional, spiritual and physical aspects of dying, family dynamics and grief.

Participants are required to attend six consecutive classes:

•    Dates: October 9, 11, 16, 18, 23, and 25
•    Time: 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
•    Location: High Park Building at 1721 South Main St. Suite A, Goshen

Upon completion of the training, volunteers will have the opportunity to provide comfort, support and companionship to hospice patients and their families in Elkhart, Kosciusko, LaGrange and Noble counties.

“After my wife passed, I wanted to do something in the way of payback for the help I received. I feel good about the comfort and companionship that I give people in their final stage of life,” said John D. Moore, Goshen Hospice Volunteer.

Hospice training is free of charge, but participants must be at least 18 years old. To submit an application to become a hospice volunteer candidate or for more information, contact Rebecca Manns, Interim Hospice Volunteer Coordinator, at (574) 364-1387 or RManns1@GoshenHealth.com.
