Goshen, Ind. –
For their commitment to improving care and fostering engagement with vascular patients, Goshen Hospital received a three-star certificate of achievement from the Vascular Quality Initiative. Only 50 hospitals out of the 565 hospitals worldwide who are members of the Society of Vascular Surgery received the three-star certificate, which was the highest award given. Vascular patients are those with vascular (or circulatory) diseases such as carotid, aortic and peripheral artery diseases.
The goal of the society is to improve patient care by collecting and analyzing data across a region.
“We are very grateful to our collaborating surgeons, radiologists, cardiologists and Colleagues who support us and together have helped us achieve this distinction,” said Ram Khattri Chettri, MBA-HCM, Service Line Administrator for Goshen Heart & Vascular Center. “Following up with vascular patients can be challenging because many have multiple risk factors like heart disease, smoking, diabetes, alcohol use and high blood pressure or cholesterol. These patients may need extra encouragement to take their medications and keep their appointments for follow-up care – yet they’re often the patients who need us the most.”
Follow-up care is crucial because it reduces the likelihood of major complications like having additional procedures, hospital readmissions, requiring a limb amputation or even premature death.
“We are proud of all our providers and Colleagues who deliver exceptional care to patients with vascular disease,” said Randy Christophel, President and CEO of Goshen Health. “This certificate shows we are delivering the highest quality of vascular care available. The people of our communities deserve no less.”
