GOSHEN, Ind. – Goshen Rehabilitation now offers two treatment programs called LSVT (Lee Silverman voice treatment) BIG® and LSVT LOUD® for patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD). Goshen Rehabilitation physical, occupational and speech therapists specially certified in the program work with individuals suffering from PD to use bigger physical movement and vocal loudness which can improve movement and communication.
“We chose to bring these programs to Goshen Rehabilitation with the assistance of Dr. Jody Neer because there is a great need in the community and surrounding area,” says Zachary Lusk, DPT, physical therapist, Goshen Rehabilitation. “LSVT BIG® and LSVT LOUD® have been extensively studied for more than 25 years and have been successful in improving the quality of life and empowering those who suffer from PD.”
Both LSVT BIG ® and LSVT LOUD® start with an initial evaluation and a normal course of treatment is four consecutive treatments per week for four weeks. Although the program focuses on those affected by PD, it can be used for other neurological conditions as well. Goshen Rehabilitation has upcoming information sessions about this program July 17, 2017 and September 22, 2017; please call (574) 975-0905 to register.
