GOSHEN, Ind. – Sonam Desai, ND, MHSc, HBSc., has joined Goshen Retreat Women's Health Center as a Naturopathic Provider. She focuses on using natural therapies to address patient health and wellness needs.
Dr. Desai provides care for patients with a wide range of conditions, including heart disease, diabetes, autoimmune diseases, arthritis and more. Other conditions Dr. Desai treats include hormonal imbalances caused by thyroid disorders, fertility issues and digestive disorders.
“Dr. Desai embraces our mission to provide a personalized wellness plan for each patient,” said Susan Franger, VP of Cancer Services at Goshen Health. “Her therapeutic methods encourage patients to take an active role in their health and well-being.”
Naturopathic medicine is more than managing disease for Dr. Desai. She is passionate about helping patients live a vital life filled with energy and wellness. Dr. Desai takes the time to investigate the root causes of disease. Then she works with each patient to improve quality of life through lifestyle modifications.
Natural therapies that interest Dr. Desai include clinical nutrition, lifestyle, botanical medicine and homeopathic medicine. She focuses on using these therapies to address chronic and/or preventable disease in each patient.
Since 2017, Dr. Desai has helped educate patients about disease prevention as both a Health Promotion Specialist and a wellness clinician at Goshen Health. She uses results from health screenings to identify patients at risk for diseases, such as hypertension, osteoporosis, heart and vascular conditions and obesity.
Dr. Desai received her degree as a Doctor of Naturopathy from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto, Ontario. She holds a Master of Health Science from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology in Oshawa, Ontario. For her undergraduate studies, Dr. Desai earned her Honors Bachelor of Science Neuroscience and Psychology from the University of Toronto in Toronto, Ontario.
