Effective immediately, Goshen Health is postponing elective and non-urgent surgeries upon recommendations from the Governor, multiple medical societies as well as our own provider groups. This decision was made with an abundance of caution in order to best protect our patients and Colleagues, to conserve our equipment and supplies and to safeguard our bed capacity for the emerging health needs of the COVID-19 outbreak.

“This is a necessary a step that many hospitals are taking to prepare for treating patients with COVID-19,” said Dr. Daniel Nafziger, Goshen Hospital Chief Medical Officer and Infectious Disease Physician. “This decision was also made to safeguard our surgical patients and Colleagues from virus spread. We are asking the public to understand. In times like these, individuals are called upon to make adjustments to accommodate the greater community need.”

If your surgery is going to be canceled, your physician’s office will contact you. Or you may reach out to your provider if you have questions.

The Goshen Surgery Center has closed effective March 18. However, surgeries at Goshen Hospital considered emergencies or urgently needed to prevent emergent intervention are not affected by this decision.
