Biography
Leonard Henry, MD, MBA, FACS, is a board certified surgeon and fellowship-trained surgical oncologist. He serves as the Medical Director of Goshen Center for Cancer Care and as a clinical associate professor of surgery at Indiana University School of Medicine in South Bend. Dr. Henry graduated cum laude with academic distinction as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society from the University of Michigan Medical School. He then joined the United States Navy and completed residency in General Surgery at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. During 15 years of service in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps, Dr. Henry rose to the rank of Commander. After completing the five years of surgical residency training following medical school, Dr. Henry completed an additional two years of fellowship training in surgical oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia. Prior to coming to Goshen, Dr. Henry previously served as a staff surgical oncologist at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD and at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He recently received an MBA from the Indiana University Business of Medicine program and was elected to the Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honor Society.
Philosophy of Care
Dr. Henry believes that cancer care is increasingly complex and thus requires a team of providers as there is often more than one path of care available to patients. He views exceptional cancer care as aligning appropriate care choices with a patient’s personal values and wishes.
