    Blair MacPhail, MD, is an interventional cardiologist at Goshen Heart & Vascular Center. He has extensive experience in cardiology, with more than 25 years of caring for patients. As an interventional cardiologist, he takes care of general cardiology problems and peripheral vascular problems as well. He treats narrowed and blocked arteries by appropriately evaluating and removing clots from blocked arteries; using laser and atherectomy devices to open arteries; and strategically placing balloons and stents to stabilize and improve blood flow. Dr. MacPhail assesses and treats patients with coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, peripheral vascular disease, hypertension and valvular and vascular heart disease.     Kathy Meier, RNC, MSN, ANP, is an adult nurse practitioner and program coordinator at Goshen Physicians Center for Weight Reduction. She uses her advanced academic and clinical experience to diagnose and manage most common and many chronic illnesses, such as obesity, diabetes and hypertension. She has experience in home care, mental health, surgery, education and internal medicine. Each of these areas has strengthened not only her clinical skills, but her belief that individuals have the ability to make positive changes in their lives. She also believes that everyone can make changes if they are willing to accept personal accountability and if they are supported with encouragement and education. At Goshen Physicians Center for Weight Reduction, Kathy manages the multidisciplinary approach to weight loss by coordinating patient care with physicians, surgeons, dietitians and personal trainers. She provides motivational counseling, reviews body composition and monitors patients’ medical status as they progress towards their weight-loss goals. In her free time, Kathy enjoys camping, cycling and time with her family. She also volunteers at Loveway Therapeutic Horseback Riding.

    Laura L. Morris, MD, MBA, FACS, is a board certified and fellowship trained breast surgical oncologist at Goshen Retreat Women’s Health Center. She is also board certified in Lifestyle Medicine. Her practice is devoted to treating patients with diseases and conditions of the breast. Dr. Morris is one of the founders and serves as the medical director of Goshen Retreat Women’s Health Center. Under her guidance, the center earned designation as the first nationally accredited breast center in the region by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). The retreat maintains that certification as well as accreditation from the American College of Radiology as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence (BICOE). She also established the region’s first comprehensive High Risk Breast Cancer Program to provide genetic counseling, testing and risk management.

    Dr. Morris believes patient-centered care goes beyond treating the disease. She encourages each patient to take an active role in making decisions about her care, and seeks to educate women to assist in that process. Dr. Morris’ approach to care also includes a strong focus on helping patients maintain their overall well-being before, during and after treatment. She believes that even small lifestyle changes have a big impact on health and wellness.

    Dr. Morris’ clinical practice includes all aspects of breast care and types of abnormalities. She is able to see patients for second opinions on abnormal imaging studie (mammograms, breast ultrasounds and MRIs) and perform in-office image guided biopsies using ultrasound and stereotactic techniques. She is proud to offer pathology results from these biopsies within 24 hours. When breast cancer is diagnosed, she is part of the interdisciplinary team at Goshen Center for Cancer Care that develops treatment plans that include not only surgery, radiation and systemic treatments, but addresses integrative care including naturopathy, nutrition and mental health. Dr. Morris provides breast cancer patients with the latest treatment options including: radioactive seed localization; nipple sparing mastectomies with direct implant placement and oncoplastic surgical techniques, both coordinated with a plastic surgeon; intra-operative radiation therapy (IORT); postoperative pain management techniques and early identification of potential lymphedema utilizing a L-Dex protocol.

    Dr. Morris participates in cooperative clinical trials that seek to improve the treatment of breast cancer. She also enthusiastically supports research that encompasses lifestyle changes seeking to prevent and treat chronic diseases (obesity, diabetes, heart disease) and cancer.
