Blair MacPhail, MD, is an interventional cardiologist at Goshen Heart & Vascular Center. He has extensive experience in cardiology, with more than 25 years of caring for patients. As an interventional cardiologist, he takes care of general cardiology problems and peripheral vascular problems as well. He treats narrowed and blocked arteries by appropriately evaluating and removing clots from blocked arteries; using laser and atherectomy devices to open arteries; and strategically placing balloons and stents to stabilize and improve blood flow. Dr. MacPhail assesses and treats patients with coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, peripheral vascular disease, hypertension and valvular and vascular heart disease.

Dr. MacPhail worked as an interventional and staff cardiologist at Community Physician Network & Community Health Network, Kokomo and Indianapolis. He was the director of the cath lab at Indiana University Health Saxony in Fishers, IN. He served as an interventional cardiologist at Heart Partners of Indiana, LLC, and Indiana Heart Associates, PC in Indianapolis. He also worked as a research biochemist in the Recombinant DNA Program for Eli Lilly and Company, Indianapolis.

Dr. MacPhail focuses on each patient’s needs and values mutual communication to provide the best possible care. He is committed to creating a team approach to diagnose and treat each problem by working closely with the primary care physician and other subspecialists.

In his various roles, Dr. MacPhail has participated in numerous clinical trials, including the effectiveness of drug therapy, balloon angioplasty, atrial fibrillation, congestive heart failure, long-term follow-up care and interventional to medical treatment of acute myocardial infarction. Many of these resulted in publications.

Dr. MacPhail specializes in a variety of techniques to diagnose and re-vascularize coronary, renal and lower extremity arteries. Since this area is continuously developing, he appreciates the continual new opportunities to improve patient care.

During his fellowship, Dr. MacPhail centered on echocardiology and transesophagael echo. Later in his career, he focused on interventional techniques to treat coronary arteries and medical therapy for coronary artery disease.
