Goshen Surgery Center
Day of surgery

Checking in
On the day of your surgery, please plan to arrive a few minutes before your scheduled appointment. This will give you time to get comfortable in our facility.
We ask that you bring the following items with you to your appointment:
-
Picture ID with proof of address
-
Insurance card
-
Method of payment, if not managed online (cash, check, credit or debit card)
-
You will need to make arrangements for an adult to be present at the center during your procedure and to provide transportation home after your appointment
Before surgery
You will need to change into a surgical gown prior to surgery. We have accommodations for your clothes and items you’ve brought with you to keep them safe during your procedure. After you’re comfortable, your nurse will review your medical forms and answer any questions.
An anesthesiologist also will review your medical information and talk about how the anesthesia works to keep you safe and pain-free before, during and after surgery.
Your surgeon will visit with you before your surgery to review your procedure with you and make sure you are comfortable and ready to proceed.
Recovering after surgery
When our surgical team has completed your procedure, you will recover in a post-operative bay. Your nurse will monitor your vital signs and make sure you are comfortable. We will also offer you pain relief medications prescribed by your surgeon. At this stage of the procedure, your comfort is our top priority. If there is anything we can do to make your immediate recovery easier, please speak with your nurse.
Recovery times vary by patient and procedure, between 30 minutes to 2 hours. Your caregiver will have the opportunity to come see you once the procedure is complete.
Continuing recovery at home
Your nurse will review instructions for you and the adult who accompanied you to follow when you return home to recuperate. We want to make sure your recovery is as comfortable and pain-free as possible. That’s why we will call you the day after your surgery to check on your progress. We will answer any questions about post-operative instructions and what to expect in the days ahead.
If you have any questions or concerns while recovering at home, please contact Goshen Surgery Center at (574) 364-4730. If you need assistance after regular business hours, please contact the office of your surgeon. If you have an emergency, call 911.
