MRI

General Information

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) uses special magnets and radio waves to capture detailed pictures of internal body structures. Images from an MRI provide a level of detail that other imaging techniques, such as X-rays and CT scans, cannot. As part of our comprehensive approach to diagnosing and treating Orthopedic conditions, we use MRIs to help make an informed decision regarding your individualized treatment.

At Goshen Orthopedics, imaging services are located on site, providing you with a more affordable MRI option. When you visit our center, you can expect to have all of your Orthopedic needs met in a single location that’s close to you. Call (574) 534-2548 for an appointment to begin quality Orthopedic care and receive an MRI in Elkhart County.

How an MRI guides your treatment

Often, listening to symptoms and performing a physical exam is not enough to diagnose or find the root cause of an Orthopedic problem. Just how an X-ray reveals sharp details of your bones, an MRI will allow your provider to see in-depth areas of your bones, as well as surrounding nerves, organs and tissue.

Your provider may use your MRI results to:

  • Pinpoint the cause of pain and other symptoms
  • Plan and prepare you for arthroscopic surgery, if necessary
  • Assess whether treatment is effective
  • Rule out other disorders and diseases

What to expect with MRI at Goshen Orthopedics

Getting an MRI is a painless procedure. It’s a simple process where you lie on a table and pass through an MRI scanner. You may need to take a contrast dye either orally or through an injection. Contrast dye helps highlight the area being imaged.

Some people find that staying still for more than a few minutes and the enclosed design of the scanner makes them uncomfortable. Your technician will work with you to make the experience as comfortable as possible.

Once your doctor reviews your results, your provider will share them with you and discuss any treatment. Your healing and quality of life are always our focus. For comprehensive, individualized Orthopedic care, call (574) 534-2548 .
