About 1 in 7 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. Having prostate cancer means there’s a malignant tumor in your prostate gland. In 2015, about 4,000 new cases of prostate cancer were diagnosed in the state of Indiana. Serving northern Indiana and southern Michigan, Goshen Center for Cancer Care is at the forefront of providing advanced treatment that cares for your complete well-being and focuses on healing.

Prostate cancer symptoms

Early prostate cancer is usually found in a screening. If the cancer is advanced, you may notice these signs of prostate cancer:

  • Changes in urination, including difficulty starting or the inability to urinate, weak or stop-and-start urine flow, and sudden urges to urinate
  • Painful, burning or frequent urination
  • Difficulty having an erection
  • Blood in the urine or semen
  • Back, hip or pelvic pain

See your doctor if you have these symptoms. Whether or not it’s cancer, an earlier diagnosis generally leads to a better treatment outcome. When diagnosed early, prostate cancer survival rates can reach 90 percent.

Leading-edge treatment at Goshen Center for Cancer Care

If you have been diagnosed with prostate cancer, your doctor checks your prostate specific antigen (PSA) levels in your blood and runs other tests to see if the cancer has spread. This information along with the stage of your cancer and your personal preferences helps us create a treatment plan.

Goshen Center for Cancer Care treats about 50 cases of prostate cancer each year. Our advanced treatment – such as high-dose rate brachytherapy – allows men to return to active and productive lives sooner with fewer complications.

Integrative therapies, such as nutrition therapy and naturopathic medicine, are always part of your treatment plan at our center. We also offer clinical trials for prostate cancer. Ask your doctor if a clinical trial is right for you.

If you need a screening, second opinion or a trusted treatment team, we are here to help. Call (888) 492-4673 (HOPE) today.
