Surgical oncology

Surgery removes cancer, helps with diagnosis

Surgery offers the greatest chance for diagnosis and cure for many types of cancer. That's why we include some type of surgical procedure in treatment plans for most of our patients with cancer.

You and your cancer team at Goshen Center for Cancer Care may choose a surgical option for a variety of reasons. Surgery may help us better determine a diagnosis or take a biopsy of a lump that appears suspicious. Or we may remove diseased tissues or organs surgically or take out an obstruction in part of the body.

Oftentimes, we combine surgery with other types of treatment, including radiation and chemotherapy, to improve outcomes and change lives for the better.

Unparalleled expertise in one place

We think about surgery differently than others in our region. That's because we are oncologists first who use surgery in an integrated approach to treat cancer.

Our team of surgical oncologists is one of the largest in the state of Indiana. They specialize exclusively in cancer surgery, making them the premier cancer experts in the industry – even among other surgeons. These fellowship-trained surgeons use advanced techniques, including minimally invasive procedures, and take on complex surgical cases other cancer centers in our region can't treat. They work together with a dedicated group of cancer experts to provide comprehensive care for our patients with cancer, from initial diagnosis to recovery and beyond.

Whether you have just received a diagnosis or you're looking for a second opinion, we can help you better understand how surgery may fit your needs.
