Get a prompt diagnosis with an ultrafast CT scan

When your care team needs to quickly evaluate your heart for vessel-clogging calcium deposits, an ultrafast computed tomography (CT) can help. Similar to a traditional CT scan, this procedure uses electron beams to create 3-D images of inside your blood vessels. It’s much faster and can provide your doctor with unique details about your heart’s blood flow in 15 minutes.

As part of our wide range of heart diagnostic services, Goshen Heart & Vascular Center offers ultrafast computed tomography in Goshen, IN. Whether you need an accurate diagnosis during an emergency or long-term care for a heart condition, our dedicated heart and vascular team is trained and ready to help.

Talk to your primary care provider about getting a screening with us. If you don’t have a primary care provider, call (877) 566-4660 for a referral.

Do I need an ultrafast CT?

If you have risk factors for atherosclerosis, the hardening of the arteries because of plaque buildup, your doctor may recommend an ultrafast CT to get your calcium score.

Some risk factors for atherosclerosis include:

  • High cholesterol
  • Obesity or high body mass index
  • Smoking history
  • Diabetes
  • A family history of heart disease or heart attack
  • Signs or symptoms of heart disease, such as high blood pressure or extreme fatigue during exercise

Getting an ultrafast CT scan at Goshen Heart & Vascular Center

We perform ultrafast CTs where your care team works together in one location. After changing into a hospital gown, you’ll lie on a table within the CT scanner. It’ll take several pictures of your heart. An ultrafast CT takes less than 20 minutes to complete.

As with traditional CT scans, you’ll be exposed to a small amount of radiation. Let your technician know if you might be pregnant.

Ask your doctor about getting an ultrafast CT scan from Goshen Heart & Vascular Center or call (877) 566-4660 for more information.
