In 1933, the wife of a family physician in a small town asked her community to send greeting cards to their physicians to recognize their compassionate and life-saving work. In 1990, President George Bush designated March 30 as National Doctors’ Day, selecting that day because it marked the anniversary of the first use of anesthesia during surgery.

To celebrate National Doctor’s Day, Goshen Health will honor and thank its doctors with an appreciation gift on Friday, March 29th. Because medical care is so often a team effort, Goshen Health will use this occasion to also recognize the contributions of advanced practice professionals like nurse practitioners, physician assistants and certified registered nurse anesthetists.

“National Doctor’s Day is a wonderful reminder to express our gratitude for the compassionate, expert care our doctors provide our community each day,” said Randy Christophel, President and Chief Executive Officer. “The trust patients place in our doctors – and our medical care teams – is humbling, whether it’s welcoming a newborn, resolving a health crisis, managing a health condition or facing a life-threatening illness. Our doctors are the best of the best, leading our teams with skill and hearts of gold.”

Goshen Hospital encourages the community to thank their healthcare providers this National Doctor’s Day by sending a note or telling them you appreciate them next time you see them.
