May 6 to 12 set aside to honor nurses
Nurses Week is celebrated nationally every year, beginning May 6 and ending on May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. In 1993, the American Nurses Association proclaimed this week would permanently be designated as National Nurses Week to recognize the contributions nurses make to their communities.
Goshen Health nurses have been on the frontlines of the pandemic for over a year. Their hard work and dedication is appreciated by all the Colleagues at Goshen Health and the community that they serve.
“As we celebrate Nurses Week, I am incredibly humbled by our nursing Colleagues at Goshen Health. COVID-19 has impacted every aspect of our organization. I have seen our nurses rise to every challenge with courage, grace and compassion. This comes from strong individuals and strong teams. I am truly grateful for their united strength, dedication and hard work as they care for our patients and each other while fulfilling our mission of improving the health of our community,” said Julie Crossley, Chief Nursing Officer at Goshen Health. “It is a privilege to work alongside the best in our profession who choose to serve so selflessly.”
“We are grateful for the tireless work of nurses throughout our health system. Long before the pandemic, our nurses have met the needs of our community in an exceptional way,” said Dr. Dan Nafziger, Hospital Chief Medical Officer. “Their leadership during the pandemic has been extraordinary. The doctors, nurse practitioners and physician assistants are grateful for their dedication!”
