Wound care (HBOT Treatment)
General Information
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy complements other treatments and has been shown to reduce amputations and hospitalizations. It is particularly effective with difficult wounds that were previously thought untreatable. At Goshen Wound & Hyperbaric Center, we have found success using HBOT for:
- Diabetic wounds of the lower extremities
- Osteomyelitis
- Compromised skin grafts and flaps
- Soft tissue radionecrosis and osteoradionecrosis
- Crush injuries
- Necrotizing infectious/fascilitis
During HBOT treatments, you relax in a pressured chamber where you breathe pure oxygen at a higher-than-normal atmospheric pressure. This higher pressure of oxygenation saturates your blood plasma, allowing it to carry 15 to 20 times the normal amount of healing oxygen to your injured body tissues.
