Combine the convenience of learning at home at your own pace and practicing the hands-on techniques you’ll need to prepare for your new arrival! Understanding Birth is a hybrid childbirth education class to help you prepare for the birth of your baby.

Step 1: Understanding Birth eClass
This interactive online course covers essential information on labor and more, and highlights ways partners can help throughout the process. You’ll also get a sense of what labor is really like as you watch several birth stories. Allow 4-6 hours to complete.

Step 2: Optional in-person class with an instructor
It is encouraged to complete the online modules prior to attending your in-person class, however it is not required. This in-person class will build off of the online modules, allowing you to ask questions, cover Goshen Hospital specifics, practice hands-on topics like comfort techniques and newborn care, and tour Goshen Hospital.
Additional Information
Financial assistance is available. After payment or request for financial assistance is received, the Childbirth Education Coordinator will send you a link to the online modules. You will have access to these materials for 9 months.
A book version is available if you do not have internet access.
