About
Dr. Nicholas DeFauw is a board certified primary care sports medicine doctor. With advanced training in family medicine and a fellowship in sports medicine, he plays an important nonsurgical role on the care team at Goshen Orthopedics. Dr. DeFauw treats patients of all ages, from young athletes and adult exercise enthusiasts to weekend warriors and others with muscle or bone injuries or pain.
From football, hockey and soccer to cycling and bull riding, Dr. DeFauw knows his way around treatment and prevention of illness and sports injuries. He appreciates opportunities to serve as a team physician or medical director for high school athletes, national sports leagues and conferences.
Dr. DeFauw also is a strong advocate of advancing the education of future leaders in sports medicine. He has served as the medical director for a sports medicine fellowship program and as a faculty member for health systems in Wisconsin and Texas.
For Dr. DeFauw, the essence of patient-centered care means doing what fits the individual needs of each patient. He believes in true teamwork, working closely with patients and Colleagues to offer the best possible care. His approach encourages patients to actively participate in their health and wellbeing.
