About
Biography
Dr. Joseph Spahr is a fellowship trained and board certified medical oncologist and hematologist at Goshen Center for Cancer Care. He diagnoses and treats a variety of cancers. Additionally, he diagnoses and treats both cancers of the blood, such as myeloma and lymphoma, as well as non-cancerous blood conditions such as anemia and white blood cell count abnormalities.
As part of his specialization in hematology, he treats both bleeding and clotting disorders. He is also trained in performing bone marrow aspiration and biopsy, which can help determine disorders of the bone marrow and the health of blood and blood cell production.
Family activities keep Dr. Spahr active when he is away from his medical practice. He and his wife enjoy spending time near water, whether on a boat, fishing or swimming. Dr. Spahr also is an avid amateur photographer.
Philosophy of Care
Treating patients with cancer involves more than just treating the disease for Dr. Spahr. He treats each patient as an individual with unique preferences and needs. That’s why he takes the time to get to know patients and encourages them to take an active role in making decisions about their treatment path.
