Coronary Artery Disease
General Information
Coronary artery disease, a condition marked by clogged and diseased arteries, leads to less blood reaching your heart. And when your heart doesn’t get the blood it needs, troubling symptoms and side effects set in. Angina, high blood pressure and heart attack are some of the complications of coronary artery disease. At Goshen Heart & Vascular Center, there’s quality help for clogged arteries and lowering your risk for serious complications.
With both preventive care and advanced treatment for heart disease, we offer complete care for coronary artery disease. Our multidisciplinary heart care team meets regularly to create personalized treatment plans that address your unique needs. For heart care that’s specific for you, talk to your primary care provider about receiving a quality heart screening or if you want to talk to someone at the Heart & Vascular Center, call (574) 537-5000 to make an appointment.
Coronary artery disease symptoms
In the beginning stages, coronary artery disease symptoms are not noticeable. As the disease progresses and arteries become more clogged, a wide range of symptoms can appear.
Symptoms of advanced coronary artery disease include:
- Chest pain
- Signs of heart failure
- Heart attack
- Arrhythmia or abnormal heart rhythm
Symptoms of a heart attack require immediate medical attention, so call 911 if you experience chest pain along with shortness of breath, nausea, dizziness and cold sweats.
Screening for coronary heart disease
We know our communities have a high incidence of heart disease, so we offer convenient screenings to keep you healthy. Regular checkups of your heart can help make sure your heart pumps as it should. Simple screenings and assessments can also help detect early signs of coronary heart disease or if you have an increased risk of developing a heart condition.
If you’re at risk for coronary artery disease or want to know your heart health status, talk to your primary care provider. Or, if you want to talk to someone at the Heart & Vascular Center, call (574) 537-5000 to make an appointment.
