Victor Kiprotich, a registered nurse in the Day Surgery Department at Goshen Health, has been honored with the DAISY Award for the exceptional and compassionate care he provided to a patient undergoing a heart procedure. DAISY stands for Diseases Attacking the Immune System and is part of an international program that recognizes the extraordinary skill and empathy nurses bring to their work every day.

The nomination, submitted by the patient’s niece, Ella Atz, highlights Kiprotich’s attentiveness and dedication:

“My uncle was at Goshen Hospital for a heart procedure. From the start, not only did my uncle—but his family as well—feel he was in safe hands. His nurse not only took excellent care of him, but also made sure our family felt supported. Whether it was ensuring we could be with my uncle when possible or simply finding us a place to sit, we felt cared for. Victor came out to the waiting room to explain what was happening, keeping us informed and reassured.

He kept my uncle comfortable and in good spirits, even showing us a video of the surgeon who might perform a bypass, which gave us peace of mind. When preparing my uncle to go home, Victor noticed a baseball-sized spot of blood at the surgical site—a sign of internal bleeding. Thanks to his quick action and attention to detail, my uncle received immediate care and was stabilized. Without Victor’s intervention, the outcome could have been very different. He went above and beyond for all of us and truly deserves this recognition.”

“I’m incredibly humbled to receive this award,” said Kiprotich. “It’s an honor to work alongside such a great team of Colleagues at Goshen Health and to have the opportunity to care for our community that's given me unlimited resources to learn and grow.”
