The intensive care unit (ICU) at Goshen Hospital recently received a silver-level Beacon Award for Excellence from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN). This is the fifth time the ICU has received the award, which is bestowed every three years to units who meet or exceed national standards for exceptional patient care and healthy work environments.

“We are delighted to see our nurses receive the recognition they deserve for the exceptional, compassionate care they provide patients in our intensive care unit,” said Randy Christophel, Goshen Health President and Chief Executive Officer. “The Beacon Award for Excellence recognizes caregivers for providing consistent care based on evidence that supports the best possible results for patients.”

Units that receive the Beacon Award for Excellence meet criteria in leadership structures and systems; appropriate staffing and staff engagement; effective communication, knowledge management, and learning and development; evidence-based practice and processes; and outcome measurement.
