Making healthy choices is easy for Sprouts Kids Club members
The Goshen Farmers Market offers a free program focused on encouraging kids to make healthy food choices. Every Tuesday, May through October, from 3 to 7 p.m. school-age children can participate in Sprouts Kids Club and receive free tokens to spend on fresh produce from local farmers at the market.
“Our Sprouts Kids Club engages kids in making healthier choices,” says Jo Ellen Davis, Goshen Farmers Market manager. “It also gives kids an opportunity to meet and interact with local farmers which helps connect where their food comes from.”
On the second Tuesday of those months, Goshen Health offers fun activities to help Sprouts Kids learn about nutrition and physical activity and earn an additional token to spend at the market.
"This is a great program to encourage children to try new fruits and vegetables and create healthy habits.” said Randy Christophel, Goshen Health President and Chief Executive Officer. “Healthy eating is important for healthy living and easy access to fruits and vegetables contributes to good health.”
