Dear Non-Nursing College Student:
Thank you for your interest in a non-nursing internship at Goshen Health. We support college students entering healthcare careers and want to work with you to provide a meaningful experience. Due to the volume of requests, the Volunteer Office asks that you follow a specific process. Please read through the instructions and information below carefully.
Placement process
Approval for internships is between the college, the student and department with which you wish to intern. Final approval is given after all paperwork has been received and reviewed by the Volunteer Office and the department you are hoping to intern with. Your application will be considered completed once you have read, signed and returned all of the following information:
Info to read before filling out forms:
- College student orientation self-study packet
- Code of Ethics booklet
Info to fill out, save and email to Volunteer@GoshenHealth.com:
- Departmental Checklist completed and includes items listed below (please review with the department you will intern with)
- Contract with school and hospital completed and shared with Volunteer Office
- Student Addendum Agreement
- College Student Info Sheet
- Code of Ethics, HIPPA and other forms
- Safety Test
- Criminal Background Check
- Info provided from school or attached form completed and returned.
- Flu vaccine info is required to be submitted when on-site October 1 – March 31.
- Proof of vaccinations from school or copy of - please email
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella); Rubella titer
- DTaP
- Varicella (Chicken Pox)
- Hepatitis B (highly recommended, but not required)
- Proof of vaccinations from school or copy of - please email
- Proof of negative Tuberculosis skin test, QuantiFERON gold test or recent chest x-ray
Form filled out and delivered to Goshen Health Human Resources:
- Badge/Parking form - Form must be returned in person to Goshen Health Human Resources
Other forms you may need:
- Vaccine Declination – only complete and return if not receiving immunizations.
- Fit Testing – only if department requests this. Bring form to the department you are interning with.
- Rehab students – please check with department for other needed items.

Once the Volunteer Office receives your completed information, we will share with the department you are hoping to internship with.
College students in surgery or Center for Cancer Care
The Center for Cancer Care Administrative Assistants coordinate college students in the Cancer Center. Contact (574) 364-2561 to inquire about placement in the Cancer Center.
