Cardiac Surgery
General Information
Cardiac procedures correct damage or defects in your heart. It’s a common treatment option if medications or less invasive treatments haven’t worked.
Your cardiologist may recommend heart surgery for many reasons, including to:
- Open or bypass blocked arteries to improve blood flow to your heart muscles
- Replace a damaged or abnormal heart valve
- Correct congenital heart defects or arrhythmias
- Implant a pacemaker
Whether you’ve had a heart attack and need emergency treatment or have a scheduled procedure, Goshen Heart & Vascular Center is fully equipped to provide leading-edge cardiac procedures. We prioritize the health and well-being of our patients and the community by providing advanced, compassionate care.
Our team of fellowship trained specialists have daily and weekly meetings to discuss our patients’ treatment plans and consult with each other. This open environment and collaboration furthers the quality of your care.
If you have concerns about your heart health, talk to your primary care provider about a heart screening. Your results will guide our treatment suggestions. If you don’t have a primary care provider, call (574) 537-5000 for a referral.
Innovative minimally invasive cardiac procedures
Goshen Heart & Vascular Center uses less invasive procedures whenever possible to improve your care. Minimally invasive cardiac procedures, such as mitral valve repair or coronary artery bypass, involve only small incisions and special instruments or robotic devices to reach the heart. This provides a shorter procedure and recovery time.
Recovering from a cardiac procedure with Goshen Heart & Vascular Center
The length of your hospital stay and recovery after your heart procedure depends on the type of procedure. You will participate in rehabilitation therapy, where you’ll have a personalized plan designed to help you regain your strength and return to an active lifestyle.
Our patient-first mentality is what makes us a leading heart care center.
