By scanning a QR code located on signs near benches, the Park Bench Fitness program gives community members access to free exercise videos in English and Spanish that give participants an opportunity to get a full body workout using nothing more than a simple park bench.
Brain Health Challenge to celebrate Screen-Free Week starts May 6
On average, children spend five to seven hours a day on entertainment media, including televisions, computers, phones and other electronic devices. That’s up to 49 hours a week! Too much screen time can raise your child’s risk for developmental delays, learning and attention problems, anxiety, depression and other health issues.
Goshen Health launches 2024 Community Health Needs Assessment
Goshen Health is conducting a community health needs assessment this spring. Through surveys, focus groups, and conversations involving community members, the current health needs of the community will be identified and response strategies developed. The overarching goal is to create a long-term plan that improves community health and wellness.
Growing healthier communities through classroom gardens
Goshen Health recently launched a new garden project, supplying ten indoor tower garden units to Goshen Community Schools. These units allow students to easily grow fresh, nutrient-rich food in the classroom year-round. Grant funding for this project was provided by the Indiana Department of Health to increase access to healthy foods in vulnerable areas. Teachers are integrating gardens into math lessons, art, writing and problem solving. More than 600 students have been positively impacted to date.
Goshen Health to present Mental Health Matters series
To spark conversation and awareness surrounding mental health, Goshen Health is partnering with the Goshen Public Library to provide free, family-friendly programming on healthy coping strategies.
Goshen Health offering free grief workshop
Working through grief alone can be difficult. Goshen Health is offering a half-day event on grief and loss, depression and the spiritual elements of grief. The workshop, Understanding Grief, will provide information on new and hopeful research about grieving, as well as exploring how to develop comforting ways of remembering people you've lost. The schedule will allow time for questions and small group discussion.

The videos are available in English and Spanish and give participants an opportunity to get a full body workout using nothing more than a simple park bench.

Goshen Health recently launched a mobile garden project with grant funding from the Indiana Department of Health to increase access to healthy foods in vulnerable areas. The seven garden units are equipped with basic materials and tools needed to successfully start container gardening & pots, soil, seeds, plants, hand tools and more.
Summer Health Lunch Bunch and free backpack meal program to start
The Summer Health Lunch Bunch program aims to improve the health of the community by providing interactive health education to students and families at targeted summer feeding sites. More than 6,500 students have participated in the program since it began.
Making healthy choices is easy for Sprouts Kids Club members
The Goshen Farmers Market offers a free program focused on encouraging kids to make healthy food choices. Every Tuesday, May through October, from 3 to 7 p.m. school-age children can participate in Sprouts Kids Club and receive free tokens to spend on fresh produce from local farmers at the market.
