Goshen Health Foundation honors local gardener with “Taking Care of One Another” award
The Goshen Health Foundation is delighted to recognize Bud Wulliman with a “Taking Care of One Another” Community Partner Award, a dedicated community volunteer whose care and commitment have transformed the gardens near the Westwood entrance, just south of the emergency room walk-in.
“My grandmother was my inspiration,” said Bud Wulliman. “She was born in the 19th century and had an incredible drive to care for her family. Her garden produced nearly every fruit, vegetable and berry you could grow in Indiana. She taught me the value of nurturing the soil and giving back.”
“Honestly, the award was unexpected,” said Wulliman when asked about receiving the “Taking Care of One Another” award. “I’ve always enjoyed chatting with staff and guests near the garden. Those conversations have been enough recognition over the years. I’d still do it even if the garden wasn’t so visible.”
Wulliman’s compassionate care and empathy for Goshen Health's gardens has had and will continue to positively affect Colleagues and patients. Wulliman has become a steadfast presence in the Goshen Health community. Tending the gardens with care and dedication, his efforts have created a peaceful and welcoming space for patients, visitors and Colleagues. Wulliman exemplifies Goshen Health’s mission—bringing excellence that extends beyond clinical walls.
“Bud Wullimans service is a beautiful example of how one person’s kindness can uplift an entire community,” said Jim Caskey, Vice President of the Goshen Health Foundation. “His attention to the gardens is more than landscaping—it’s a gesture of healing and hope.”
The “Taking Care of One Another” award recognizes individuals and organizations whose contributions embody Goshen Health’s values of compassion, accountability, respect and excellence. Wulliman’s volunteerism exemplifies these principles through his consistent care and thoughtful presence.
Goshen Health Foundation extends its deepest gratitude to Bud Wulliman and all community members who help foster a positive culture and experience here at Goshen Health.
