Endometrial Cancer

General Information

Endometrial cancer is the most common form of uterine cancer and the most common gynecological cancer in the U.S.

Endometrial cancer starts in the lining (endometrium) of the uterus. It’s highly treatable, especially in the early stages. Goshen Center for Cancer Care offers integrated treatment for endometrial cancer. Our experts, including naturopathic doctors, mind-body counselors, registered dietitians and a gynecological oncologist who’s highly experienced in complex surgeries, provide the leading-edge treatment you need to not just survive, but thrive.

How to recognize endometrial cancer symptoms

The most common symptom of endometrial cancer is abnormal vaginal bleeding, including changes in menstrual cycle, spotting between periods and bleeding after menopause. These symptoms occurs in about 90 percent of women at the time of diagnosis.

Other signs of endometrial cancer include:

  • Abnormal vaginal discharge
  • Painful sex
  • Pelvic pain
  • Difficulty urinating or pain with urination

Since these symptoms are similar to a wide range of gynecological conditions, it’s important to see your doctor. If it is endometrial cancer, finding it early offers the highest chance for a cure.

Together, you and your care team determine the right treatment plan for your endometrial cancer. The main treatment for all stages of endometrial cancer is surgery to remove the cancer and the reproductive organs. We often recommend radiation therapy or chemotherapy after surgery. Hormone therapy or biological therapy may be used to treat more advanced stages.
