Do I need a hip replacement?
Your orthopedic specialist may recommend a hip replacement if:
- You have severe hip joint damage from arthritis, injury or infection
- You have hip pain even at rest
- Your daily activities are limited by hip pain or stiffness
- X-ray shows severe joint damage with loss of bone and cartilage
- Treatments like physical therapy, medications, joint injections and less invasive surgeries haven’t worked
Hip replacement surgery at Goshen Orthopedics
Your hip replacement will be performed at Goshen Hospital. We offer a complimentary and mandatory Joint Replacement Camp, where you’ll learn everything you need to know for before, during and after your surgery.
During the procedure, your surgeon removes the damaged hip joint and replaces it with a new, artificial one. Most of these surgeries are total hip replacements. If you have a leg fracture involving the femur head (the ball at the top of the thigh bone), a partial hip replacement may be an option.
After the procedure, expect to spend a few days in the hospital. Your rehabilitation process will include physical therapy with our caring experts, who are dedicated to helping you heal.
At Goshen Orthopedics, we provide compassionate care in everything we do.
