    Biography

    Sultan Niazi, MD, is a board certified internal medicine specialist at Goshen Hospital. He also serves as the medical director for Goshen Physicians Sleep & Allergy Medicine and Goshen Sleep Disorders Center.
     
    Dr. Niazi provides care for critically ill patients in the hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU) and progressive care unit (PCU). Many patients in the ICU are in unstable condition caused by disorders, such as cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, strokes or severe trauma. Dr. Niazi acts as the medical team leader and takes primary responsibility to coordinate a team of specialists to provide complete care for the patient. The collaborative approach helps improve the quality of patient care, reduce complications, shorten lengths of stay in ICU and enhance safety.

    Dr. Niazi is also board certified and fellowship trained in pulmonary medicine, critical care and sleep medicine. He provides advanced therapies for patients with complex pulmonary conditions and sleep disorders.

    Biography

    Katy O’Toole is a certified nurse practitioner at Goshen Physicians Sleep & Allergy Medicine. She diagnoses and treats teenagers and adults with sleep disorders as well as seasonal and chronic allergies.
     
    During Katy’s career in nursing, she has coordinated inpatient and outpatient care and served as an advocate with the patient’s best interest at heart. Her special training and experience in sleep medicine have provided Katy with a strong foundation in managing a wide range of patient conditions, from sleep apnea and insomnia to narcolepsy and restless leg syndrome.
     
    Family time comes first in Katy’s personal life. Dogs, cats, children and a husband keep her happy and busy! She also enjoys crocheting and resin craft projects.

    Katy develops a partnership with patients to provide the best care for their needs. She takes time to get to know each patient and what’s important to them. Through education, Katy helps patients understand their condition and share in the decision-making process.

    Debbie Risa is a certified nurse practitioner at Goshen Physicians Sleep & Allergy Medicine. She specializes in treating teenagers and adults with sleep disorders, allergies and asthma. Her advanced training includes screening and diagnostic testing for obstructive sleep apnea, insomnia and sleep related movement disorders.
     
    Celebrating three generations of family fills Debbie’s life when she is away from patient care. She also loves to travel, particularly on mission trips with her church.

    Debbie believes knowledge is power. She equips patients with information about their health and condition to help them actively participate in making decisions about their care.

    A lifelong learner, Debbie expands her own understanding of chronic diseases as a participant in the Nurses’ Health Study II, sponsored by Harvard Medical School. The study has played an instrumental role in shaping public health recommendations for healthy aging in women.
