Goshen Health Colleague Dulce Mayorga receives Gardener Award for exemplary care

Goshen Health has named Dulce Mayorga, Patient Access Representative, as the fourth-quarter recipient of the Gardener Award, which recognizes Colleagues outside of nursing who exemplify Goshen Health’s mission of taking care of one another and cultivating a culture of compassion.

Mayorga was nominated after a heartfelt call from patients Paul and Darla Ammerman who expressed sincere gratitude for her exceptional service. They described Mayorga as “wonderful,” “welcoming,” “an angel” and “incredibly motivating.”

Mayorga answered a call from the Ammerman’s to schedule two appointments for Paul. Understanding the importance of Darla accompanying him despite mobility challenges. Mayorga coordinated both appointments for the same day with back-to-back times. She patiently stayed on the phone to encourage Darla. Darla later shared that she felt seen, heard and genuinely cared for.

“We could see and feel Goshen Health Colleagues living out the values of CARE and wanted to ensure this did not go unnoticed. This Colleague's kindness, empathy and personal touch made a lasting impact,” the Ammerman’s said. “What began as a routine scheduling call became a truly meaningful experience and we couldn’t be more thankful.”

Mayorga reflected on the honor, saying, “I am thankful for the recognition and grateful for the experience. It’s always a good reminder that there is true value in what we do and how treating each patient with kindness can have an impact on not only them but on oneself.”
