Goshen Hospital is proud to announce the arrival of the first baby born in 2026. Fayka Georges, weighing 5 pounds and 9.9 ounces and measuring 19.25 inches, was born at 8:12 a.m. on January 1, 2026, to proud parents Wilna Vilneus and Watson Georges of Goshen, IN.

The birth took place at The Birthplace at Goshen Hospital, where Fayka was welcomed by a team of dedicated physicians, nurses and caregivers. The Birthplace provides a warm, supportive environment for families, offering private birthing suites and specialized care for mothers and newborns.

“We are honored to celebrate the first birth of the new year here at Goshen Hospital,” said Randy Christophel, President and Chief Executive Officer. “Each new baby represents hope, joy and the promise of a bright future. It’s a privilege to share this special moment with families in our community.”

To commemorate the occasion, the Goshen Hospital Auxiliary generously gifted the family a brand-new wagon filled with baby essentials, keepsakes and some special items for mom and dad!

The Birthplace at Goshen Hospital, a Blue Distinction Center recognized for quality and safety in maternity care, supported 937 births in 2025. Families receive expert guidance throughout pregnancy and postpartum, including education classes, breastfeeding support and safe‑sleep practices. The Birthplace also prioritizes the “Golden Hour” of skin‑to‑skin contact to help newborns transition smoothly and start life strong.
