Goshen Health Foundation gives donors exclusive look at advanced cancer detecting robot
Goshen Health unveiled the Noah Galaxy robotic system to donors and Goshen Health Foundation representatives. Their generosity made this cutting-edge technology possible and the event was the first opportunity for both groups to see the system in person.
Goshen Health is the only hospital in Indiana offering this advanced technology. Goshen Center for Cancer Care continues to lead the way in early and accurate lung cancer detection. To date, Dr. Sammy Bostaji, Interventional Pulmonologist, has completed 120 cases using the Noah Galaxy developed by Noah Medical. This surgical robot is used for navigational bronchoscopy. Allowing Dr. Bostaji to visualize areas of concern in the lung and test areas for cancer in real time using a standard 2D X-ray.
“This technology allows us to reach deep into the lungs with accuracy and minimal discomfort,” said Dr. Bostaji, Interventional Pulmonologist. “It’s changing the way we fight lung cancer giving patients hope through earlier detection.”
“Seeing the Noah Medical Galaxy system in action reminds us how deeply our donors care about this community. With Dr. Sammy Bostaji leading the way, Goshen Health is proud to be the first in the region to bring this level of precision and capability to lung-cancer care”, said Jim Caskey, Vice President of the Goshen Health Foundation. “We are profoundly grateful to the supporters who make advancements like this possible for the patients who count on us.”
During the event donors had the opportunity to try out the Noah Galaxy robotic system themselves. Many eagerly took control, maneuvering the robot under the expert guidance of Dr. Bostaji. Holding the controller and moving it around gave donors a sense of the innovation they help bring to Goshen Health, making the experience both educational and deeply rewarding.
“Seeing the Galaxy System in action was deeply personal for me. A small spot on my lung found by chance during imaging for a heart condition changed the course of my life”, said Fred Ramser, donor for Noah Galaxy. “This technology represents hope for earlier detection and more precise treatment for people just like me. It’s exciting to see Goshen Health on the forefront of lung-cancer innovation.”
