Goshen Health is calling on the community to join in celebrating Nurses Week, May 6–12, by sharing messages of gratitude and support for the nurses and care team members who are the heart of local healthcare. Community members are encouraged to participate in several simple but meaningful ways to honor those who provide compassionate, expert care every day.

“Nursing is more than a profession—it’s a calling rooted in compassion, resilience, and dedication,” said Julie Crossley, Chief Nursing Officer, Goshen Health. “This week is about honoring the incredible impact our nurses have every day—at the bedside, behind the scenes, and throughout the community. I encourage everyone to take a moment to thank a nurse this week. A simple message of gratitude can go a long way in recognizing their tireless commitment and the difference they make in so many lives.”

The community is invited to take part in the following activities:

  • Leave a Note of Gratitude for Nurses– A virtual message board is available for anyone to share a note of thanks, upload a photo, or post a kind word to let their favorite nurse know they’re appreciated. Patients, families, Colleagues, and community members are all invited to contribute. Visit: http://goshenhealth.com/nurses-week
  • Nominate a Nurse for the DAISY Award – The DAISY Award is an international recognition program that honors the extraordinary skill and compassion nurses provide every day. Patients and their families can submit a nomination to recognize a nurse who made a meaningful difference in their care experience. Goshen Health is also proud to feature the 2024 and 2025 DAISY Award winners on social media during Nurses Week.
  • Support from Local Students – As part of the celebration, local students are writing handwritten notes to Goshen Health nurses. These notes will be displayed in Goshen Health facilities as a visual reminder of the impact that care teams have on the entire community.
  • Engage on Social Media – Follow Goshen Health on social media throughout Nurses Week to see stories and highlights celebrating the care teams. Share your own appreciation using #GoshenNursesWeek and help spread the word.

On May 7, during Nurses Week, Goshen Health will join Goshen College in celebrating the ribbon cutting of the newly renovated Center for Nursing and Public Health. The facility features a state-of-the-art simulation lab, sponsored by Goshen Health, that precisely replicates the hospital rooms and equipment used at Goshen Health—providing students with hands-on training in a real-world environment. This milestone reflects the strong, ongoing partnership between Goshen Health and Goshen College in advancing nursing education.

This achievement places Goshen Hospital among an elite group of fewer than 60 hospitals nationwide to receive Magnet recognition five times.
