Kayla Pippenger, RN, BSN, receives Goshen Health’s DAISY Award
Goshen Health is pleased to recognize Kayla Pippenger, RN, BSN, a nurse in the progressive care unit (PCU), as the recipient of the DAISY Award®, an honor that celebrates nurses who consistently demonstrate exceptional clinical skill, compassion and dedication to patient-centered care.
Pippenger was nominated by Wendy Short, who described the support, understanding and care Kayla provided to her family during a difficult healthcare journey.
Wendy has been a nurse for 35 years and has worked alongside many nurses throughout her career, but Pippenger stood out to her. From the moment Wendy’s father came into the hospital with chest pain, Pippenger treated the whole family with deep compassion.
"The way Kayla spoke to my father and the compassion she exuded, I have not seen in many young nurses” wrote Wendy. “Kayla had a student with her, and she treated her student with compassion as well. Throughout his echocardiogram, his stress test, and the long day waiting for results, Kayla kept my father informed. She made him feel safe and was so respectful. Kayla helped him maintain his dignity and modesty as he got up for the first time, paying close attention to every detail and offering a comforting smile throughout the process. I would hire her on my team any day."
Whether educating future Colleagues, looking after patients or providing encouragement during difficult moments, Pippenger exemplifies the qualities the DAISY Award® was created to recognize. Her dedication to delivering exceptional care reflects Goshen Health's commitment to treating every patient with dignity, empathy and respect.
Colleagues describe Pippenger as a trusted team member who consistently goes above and beyond to support both patients and fellow Colleagues. Her kindness, professionalism and unwavering focus on patient well-being have earned the respect of those she serves and works alongside.
“I wouldn’t be the nurse I am today without the support of Goshen Hospital, my family and friends,” said Pippenger. “I am very passionate about what I do, and I am so honored and grateful to be recognized by such a wonderful patient and their family.”
The DAISY Award® is an international recognition program that honors nurses for the extraordinary care they provide every day. Goshen Health is proud to partner with The DAISY Foundation in celebrating nurses whose actions leave a lasting impact on patients, families and healthcare teams.
