    Biography

    Dr. Christopher Owens is a board certified and fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon. He serves as the medical director at Goshen Physicians Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. He has extensive experience and fellowship training in orthopedic sports medicine to thoroughly diagnose and treat his patients’ pain or injury. He has provided medical team coverage for the NFL’s Carolina Panthers, minor league baseball’s Charlotte Knights and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Davidson College. Dr. Owens has been the team physician for Concord High School since 2014 and also serves as an orthopedic consultant for Goshen High School.

    Philosophy of Care

    Dr. Owens believes that quality health care involves determining how all aspects of a person’s life impact his or her health. He approaches each patient with deep personal commitment, building a relationship based on compassion and honesty that helps him provide everyone with the best possible care. Dr. Owens considers all options and then develops a treatment plan that may include both nonsurgical and surgical options to help minimize pain and maximize recovery.

    Clinical Interest

    Dr. Owens has received advanced training in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery such as ACL reconstruction and cartilage repair, arthroscopic rotator cuff and labral repair, hip arthroscopy, shoulder replacement and partial knee replacement.

    Research Interest

    Dr. Owens has delivered presentations for the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Mid-American Orthopedic Association and the North Carolina 1824 Orthopedic Society. He has also been published in the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, Arthroscopy Techniques, and International Orthopedics. He has performed research on ACL injuries in NFL football players, arthroscopic hip labral repair and shoulder arthroplasty. He has worked as an instructor at the Arthroscopy Association of North America’s Shoulder Masters Course.

    Biography

    Dr. Arjuna Cuddeback is a board certified and fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon at Goshen Physicians Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. He assesses and treats a full spectrum of musculoskeletal disorders ranging from arthritis to work and sports injuries, as well as fractures. He also has advanced training in lower extremity trauma and adult foot and ankle reconstruction.

    His ultimate goal for his patients is a successful return to work, sports or a desired level of physical activity. A former semi-professional soccer player, Dr. Cuddeback is passionate about physical fitness and sports. He was captain of his university men’s club soccer team, has coached a girls’ high school soccer team and been assistant coach for a men’s varsity soccer team during medical school. In his free time, he also enjoys carpentry, traveling, music and movies.

    Philosophy of Care

    Regardless of whether a patient’s pain or injury requires conservative, non-operative intervention or a surgical procedure, Dr. Cuddeback tailors his treatment plan to best fit each patient and his or her lifestyle. His philosophy is that each patient is a whole person with individual needs. He believes open communication and mutual respect are the cornerstones of a successful doctor-patient relationship.

    Clinical Interest

    Dr. Cuddeback treats both surgical and non-surgical pain and injuries of the musculoskeletal system. He is trained to diagnose and treat chronic pain in all joints, specifically the shoulder, hip, knee and ankle. He performs total joint replacements, treats acute injuries in the upper and lower extremities as well as performs arthroscopic procedures in the shoulder, knee and ankle. He also performs various foot and ankle procedures.

    Dr. Cuddeback will also see patients with back pain; however, he does not offer surgical intervention for the back. He is currently working on publishing a novel approach to treating non-reconstructible distal tibia fractures.

    Dr. Nicholas DeFauw is a board certified primary care sports medicine doctor. With advanced training in family medicine and a fellowship in sports medicine, he plays an important nonsurgical role on the care team at Goshen Physician Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. Dr. DeFauw treats patients of all ages, from young athletes and adult exercise enthusiasts to weekend warriors and others with muscle or bone injuries or pain.

    From football, hockey and soccer to cycling and bull riding, Dr. DeFauw knows his way around treatment and prevention of illness and sports injuries. He appreciates opportunities to serve as a team physician or medical director for high school athletes, national sports leagues and conferences.

    Dr. DeFauw also is a strong advocate of advancing the education of future leaders in sports medicine. He has served as the medical director for a sports medicine fellowship program and as a faculty member for health systems in Wisconsin and Texas.

    For Dr. DeFauw, the essence of patient-centered care means doing what fits the individual needs of each patient. He believes in true teamwork, working closely with patients and Colleagues to offer the best possible care. His approach encourages patients to actively participate in their health and wellbeing.     Dr. DeFauw is particularly interested in managing care for patients with concussions, other head injuries and broken or fractured bones. He pursues specialized training in ultrasound guided procedures to treat chronic tendinopathy and relieve arthritis pain.

    Dr. DeFauw is actively involved as an article reviewer for Sports Health Journal, a peer-reviewed clinical publication of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine. He also seeks out opportunities to advance his training and knowledge within a variety of national sports medicine clinical societies.

    Dr. Kevin Houseman is a podiatrist with Goshen Physicians Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. Dr. Houseman is certified in foot surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery®. Nearly a decade of education, training and private practice have advanced his proficiency in diagnosing and treating diseases, deformities, disorders and traumatic injuries of the foot and ankle.

    A leader in wound care, Dr. Houseman has extensive experience providing diabetic wound care and limb preservation. His comprehensive approach to wound management includes coordination of hyperbaric oxygen therapy at Goshen Wound Clinic to accelerate healing of chronic wounds.

    Dr. Houseman’s clinical experience has taken him from outpatient and inpatient settings to the emergency room and surgery center. The broad range of conditions he treats include toenail conditions, fractures, sprains, strains and tendonitis of the foot and ankle. Dr. Houseman also provides care for plantar fasciitis, flat foot pain, bunions and hammertoes.

    Dr. David C. Koronkiewicz is a board certified orthopedic surgeon at Goshen Physicians Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. He specializes in joint replacement surgery, sports medicine, arthritic conditions and general orthopedic problems, including the care and treatment of fractures.

    Before joining Goshen Physicians Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, Dr. Koronkiewicz was a key provider for North Central Orthopedics, a successful practice in Goshen, IN. He also served his country in the U.S. Air Force Medical Corps as a staff orthopedist, physician advisor and clinical preceptor at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona. During his service, he was promoted to Major and received the Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service.

    When he is not busy with his medical commitments, Dr. Koronkiewicz is extremely active in the community. He was the team physician for Goshen High School for more than 19 years and is a member of the high school’s Dollars for Scholars Fund Raising Committee. He also served as the Medical Director of Quality at Goshen Hospital.

    Lindsay Neff is a certified orthopedic nurse practitioner at Goshen Physicians Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. Before joining the team, Lindsay spent several years as a nurse who focused primarily on orthopedic and spinal care, in addition to treating other surgical and general medical patients. As a registered nurse at Goshen Hospital, she served six months on a committee assembled to assess and, ultimately, redevelop the nursing model for the hospital.

    Lindsay earned her Master’s of Science in Nursing from Ball State University in Muncie, IN. In 2009, she received a Patient Choice Award at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN, in recognition of her outstanding dedication to patient care. Since then, she has been selected to join the Honor Society at Ball State University, as well as Phi Kappa Phi, one of the nation’s premier honor societies for academic excellence.

    Lindsay cares for her patients as if they were her own family. Her goal is to provide the same quality of care she would provide her own family if they were her patients. She is passionate about orthopedics because of the variety of things she sees on a daily basis. She recognizes the unique needs of each patient, taking the time to listen to their needs and wants so she can provide the best care.

    Lindsay enjoys treating all aspects of orthopedics and sports medicine including osteoarthritis, acute and chronic injuries or problems, joint replacements and working with surgeons to coordinate and assist with care. She helped create the Total Joint Replacement Seminar for patients at Goshen Health and continues to teach the seminar. She also enjoys one-on-one patient education. She loves sports medicine and has worked with high school athletes in the training room. She hopes to devote her career to orthopedics.

    Kirby Wilcoxson is a certified nurse practitioner at Goshen Physicians Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. She collaborates with the orthopedic surgeons in treating orthopedic and sports-related injuries ranging from arthritis to fracture care. She participates in the care of patients both surgically and non-surgically. Although orthopedics is her specialty, she is a certified family nurse practitioner and is qualified to treat illnesses along the spectrum of primary care from infancy to the advanced-aging population.

    Kirby loves being a nurse practitioner because she is committed to the holistic care of the patient. In her providing care for different ages, she is aware that there are a variety of factors that play into one’s health and is intentional about maintaining the holistic model throughout the course of care. One of her main goals is to help people re-establish their lives and recover so they can return to the activities they love.

    Kirby has always had an interest in health and fitness. Her first bachelor’s degree was in kinesiology, where she fell in love with the mechanics of the human body. As a result, she is interested in health, wellness and disease prevention. This encompasses many diagnoses and treatment plans including osteoarthritis care, as well as sports injury prevention and treatment. As a college athlete, Kirby was fascinated with sports medicine and is excited to now participate in the care of these types of injuries as an orthopedic provider.
