    Biography

    Dr. Christopher Owens is a board certified orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in sports medicine. Dr. Owens serves as the medical director at Goshen Orthopedics. He has provided medical team coverage for the NFL Carolina Panthers, MiLB Elkhart County Miracle and Charlotte Knights, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and Davidson College. Dr. Owens has been the team physician for Concord High School since 2014 and also serves as an orthopedic consultant for Goshen High School, Fairfield High School and Northridge High School.

    Philosophy of Care

    Dr. Owens believes that quality health care involves determining how all aspects of a person’s life impact his or her health. He approaches each patient with deep personal commitment, building a relationship based on compassion and honesty that helps him provide everyone with the best possible care. Dr. Owens considers all options and then develops a treatment plan that may include both nonsurgical and surgical options to help minimize pain and maximize recovery.

    Biography

    Dr. Kyle Carlson is an orthopedic surgeon with Goshen Orthopedics. He is fellowship trained in adult reconstruction orthopedic surgery and specializes in total joint replacement of hips and knees. He also treats patients with general orthopedic problems, including injuries and trauma to bones, ligaments and tendons.
     
    Dr. Carlson has advanced training and experience in treating complex cases. He specializes in adult revisions to joint replacements and treatment for conditions caused by degenerative diseases, including arthritis.
     
    His goal is to help patients get back to activities that are most important to them. His conservative approach blends non-operative treatment and surgical solutions to relieve musculoskeletal pain or discomfort that may limit a patient's quality of life.
     
    A native of Indiana, Dr. Carlson and his family enjoy outdoor activities in the Goshen community and being close to family. His hobbies include running, fishing, woodworking and travel.

    Biography

    Dr. Nicholas DeFauw is a board certified primary care sports medicine doctor. With advanced training in family medicine and a fellowship in sports medicine, he plays an important nonsurgical role on the care team at Goshen Orthopedics. Dr. DeFauw treats patients of all ages, from young athletes and adult exercise enthusiasts to weekend warriors and others with muscle or bone injuries or pain.

    From football, hockey and soccer to cycling and bull riding, Dr. DeFauw knows his way around treatment and prevention of illness and sports injuries. He appreciates opportunities to serve as a team physician or medical director for high school athletes, national sports leagues and conferences.

    Dr. DeFauw also is a strong advocate of advancing the education of future leaders in sports medicine. He has served as the medical director for a sports medicine fellowship program and as a faculty member for health systems in Wisconsin and Texas.

    For Dr. DeFauw, the essence of patient-centered care means doing what fits the individual needs of each patient.     Dr. Kevin Houseman is a podiatrist with Goshen Orthopedics. Dr. Houseman is certified in foot surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery®. Nearly a decade of education, training and private practice have advanced his proficiency in diagnosing and treating diseases, deformities, disorders and traumatic injuries of the foot and ankle.

    A leader in wound care, Dr. Houseman has extensive experience providing diabetic wound care and limb preservation. His comprehensive approach to wound management includes coordination of hyperbaric oxygen therapy at Goshen Wound Clinic to accelerate healing of chronic wounds.

    Dr. Houseman’s clinical experience has taken him from outpatient and inpatient settings to the emergency room and surgery center. The broad range of conditions he treats include toenail conditions, fractures, sprains, strains and tendonitis of the foot and ankle. Dr. Houseman also provides care for plantar fasciitis, flat foot pain, bunions and hammertoes.

    Biography

    Eric Brown is a board certified family nurse practitioner with Goshen Orthopedics. He provides treatment options for patients with degenerative joint conditions, such as arthritis. He also treats patients with injuries to bones, muscles, tendons and ligaments, including sprains, strains, fractures and dislocations.
     
    Eric has extensive experience with pre- and post-operative care in surgical units, including at Goshen Hospital. He works closely with orthopedic surgical teams to manage care in the operating room and meet each patient’s specific needs before, during and after surgery.
     
    Family time keeps Eric busy when he is away from work. As part of a voluntary mission trip, he helped establish a medical clinic in Ecuador that provides health screenings and education for residents in the rural community.

    Eric’s goal is to treat each patient with compassion and respect. He enjoys getting to know patients and working with them to build a treatment plan that fits their preferences.     Jeff Lain is a certified family nurse practitioner and surgical first assistant at Goshen Orthopedics. He collaborates with orthopedic surgeons in treating back and spine conditions. Jeff has over two decades of experience in surgical and critical care nursing, involving all phases of the surgical process. Prior to joining the orthopedic group, he served as a first assistant in a wide array of surgeries, including robotic-assisted procedures at Goshen Hospital.
     
    When Jeff is away from patient care, he is in search of his next adventure and enjoys traveling with family, weightlifting and cycling.

    Lindsay Neff is a certified orthopedic nurse practitioner at Goshen Orthopedics. Before joining the team, Lindsay spent several years as a nurse who focused primarily on orthopedic and spinal care, in addition to treating other surgical and general medical patients. As a registered nurse at Goshen Hospital, she served six months on a committee assembled to assess and, ultimately, redevelop the nursing model for the hospital.

    Lindsay earned her Master’s of Science in Nursing from Ball State University in Muncie, IN. In 2009, she received a Patient Choice Award at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN, in recognition of her outstanding dedication to patient care. Since then, she has been selected to join the Honor Society at Ball State University, as well as Phi Kappa Phi, one of the nation’s premier honor societies for academic excellence.

    Quentin Cave is a licensed and board certified athletic trainer at Goshen Orthopedics. He provides athletic training services for student athletes in grades 7-12 at Fairfield Jr/Sr High School in Goshen, IN. As an integral part of the school's athletic program, Quentin evaluates, diagnoses and rehabilitates students with orthopedic injuries sustained during athletic events and practice activities.
     
    Quentin also works to prevent orthopedic injuries and provides medical coverage during all home sporting events. He is specially trained to provide instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) and massage cupping. These techniques relieve pain and increase circulation in tight or tense areas of the body.

    Maritza Chavez Stahly is a licensed and board certified athletic trainer at Goshen Orthopedics. She works closely with student athletic programs at Goshen High School, Goshen Middle School and Concord High School to evaluate, diagnose and rehabilitate students with sports injuries. For middle school and high school sporting events, Maritza sets up venues for games, matches and meets.
     
    Education plays an important role in Maritza's approach to training young athletes. She guides them in methods to prevent injuries and teaches proper nutrition and hydration for athletes. Maritza is specially trained in the Graston Technique to eliminate pain and restore range of motion and normal function after soft tissue injuries.
     
    During time away from work, Maritza has a passion for family, cooking, travel and nature. She finds stress relief in reading and coloring.

    Maritza takes a compassionate and empathetic approach to care for athletes with sports injuries. She uses active listening skills to address their concerns and help them perform at their highest potential.
