National accreditation highlights Goshen Heart & Vascular Center’s commitment to lifesaving heart care
Goshen Heart & Vascular Center has been awarded the Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI Accreditation by the American College of Cardiology (ACC), recognizing the center’s expertise and commitment to providing exceptional care for patients experiencing chest pain or heart attack symptoms.
This accreditation is based on a rigorous onsite evaluation of Goshen Heart & Vascular Center’s ability to evaluate, diagnose and treat patients who may be experiencing a heart attack. Hospitals earning this designation have demonstrated exceptional competency in treating patients with heart attack symptoms and have primary PCI (percutaneous coronary intervention) available 24/7, every day of the year.
“Achieving Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI Accreditation reflects our team’s dedication to delivering the highest quality of care for patients in our community,” said Randy Christophel, President and CEO of Goshen Health. “This recognition underscores our commitment to providing timely, life-saving treatment and ensuring the best possible outcomes for those experiencing chest pain or heart attack symptoms.”
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 730,000 Americans suffer a heart attack each year. The most common symptom is chest pain or discomfort, but other symptoms can include shortness of breath, nausea, dizziness, or pain in the arms, back, neck or jaw. Timely intervention is critical to reducing heart damage and improving survival rates.
Hospitals receiving this accreditation must meet stringent criteria, including compliance with Chest Pain Center protocols, maintaining a robust hypothermia program for post-cardiac arrest treatment and implementing best practices for patient education and care. Facilities also maintain a “No Diversion Policy” for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest patients, ensuring immediate access to life-saving treatment.
“Goshen Heart & Vascular Center has demonstrated its commitment to providing the Goshen community with excellent heart care,” said Deepak L. Bhatt, MD, MPH, FACC, chair of the ACC Accreditation Management Board. “ACC Accreditation Services is proud to award Goshen Heart & Vascular Center with Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI Accreditation.”
